OUR MISSION
Rooted in Hellenic values and shared heritage, the Benevolent Society of Eleftheriani exists to unite its members in fellowship, preserve the traditions of our ancestral village, and pass a lasting sense of identity and belonging to future generations. Through philanthropy and education, we honor our past while investing in the promise of tomorrow.
WHAT WE DO
Through monthly gatherings, social events, and our annual dinner dance, the Society brings the spirit of Eleftheriani to life across generations. Guided by the Greek tradition of philotimo and communal responsibility, funds raised throughout the year strengthen bonds among our members and support scholarships awarded to high school and college students of Eleftheriani heritage who exemplify academic excellence.
OUR COMMUNITY
Founded in 1917 by immigrants determined to preserve their roots, the Benevolent Society of Eleftheriani is comprised of those born in the village of Eleftheriani, Greece, and their descendants, families, and friends. For more than a century, generations of Eleftheriani have carried their customs, faith, and Hellenic identity primarily throughout New York, New Jersey, and Canada.
The Society is a proud member of the Federation of Sterea Hellas and maintains a sister society in Athens, strengthening the enduring bond between homeland and diaspora.
