ABOUT US

In 1917, the Society was formed to help the villagers who came from Greece to start a new life in America.  Since then, the society aims to preserve the culture, ethnicity, and customs we brought here to pass on to future generations.

OUR MISSION

The purpose of the Society is to promote an cultivate fellowship among its members to maintain a sense of community and belonging for future generations, and engage in philanthropic and educational programs.

WHAT WE DO

The society hosts monthly meetings, socials, and an annual dinner dance. In the spirit of philanthropy and community, the funds that are raised throughout the year are used to foster friendship and a sense of belonging among its members, and to a scholarship which is awarded to high school and college students with exceptional academic achievements, whose heritage is rooted in the village of Eleftheriani.

In addition, the society is part of the Federation of Sterea Hellas, and has a sister society in Athens.

OUR COMMUNITY

The society is comprised of individuals who were born in the village of Eleftheriani, Greece, and their descendants, families, and friends.  Since 1917, generations of Leftheriani can be found primarily in New York, New Jersey, and Canada.
